George Zongolopoulos’s sculpture, in stainless steel, height 13m, was installed in 1997 on the seafront of Thessaloniki, the year in which the city was the Cultural Capital of Europe.
Since then, the “Umbrellas” sculpture has been a reference point for the city of Thessaloniki.
